The Merchandisers

Wellness House stands strong and provides no cost support for those affected by cancer because of the incredible persistence and long-time dedication of The Courtyard merchandisers, Nancy Keenan, Sheila Botti and Kathy Ryan. Since the opening of The Courtyard in 1991, Nancy, Sheila and Kathy have contributed their many talents, countless hours of time and cultivated a framework for a thriving consignment shop profitable since day one. They’ve created a unique and robust volunteer culture where lifelong friendships develop and a spirit of giving inspires all who work with them. It’s only through their steadfast and unwavering leadership that The Courtyard isas successful as it is today with a dedicated group of over 70  volunteers and more than 5 million dollars contributed to Wellness House.

It all began when they realized this was a creative way to help Wellness House. A meeting was held, other members of the community were pulled in to formulate a business plan, and the innovative idea of a consignment shop was presented to the board of directors. Nancy, Sheila and Kathy shared a mutual passion for antiquing, finding treasures at area auctions and scouring flea markets and house sales with an unmistakably keen eye for design.

They saw an opportunity to support a worthwhile cause and decided to use their personal skills, passions and interests to make this become a reality.

The early years of The Courtyard with no internet, cell phones or GPS brought many adventures. They would make appointments to visit homes, hitting 8 or 9 in a day, viewing items to consign and attending countless garage sales, estate sales and flea markets, sometimes even while on vacation.

This powerhouse trifecta worked tirelessly, spending 8 to 12 hours per day on The Courtyard while tending to young families. Throughout the years, they’ve watched each other’s families grow, their children get married and have grandchildren. The support of their families contributed to their ability to remain committed through thick and thin, the ups and downs, good times and frantic times. This amazing trio remained wholeheartedly committed year after year, with Wellness House benefiting from their unparalleled hard work and longevity.
