Making it Through Together

A large gray house with white trim and a porch, overlaid with the text “35 Years of Hope” and the Wellness House 35th anniversary logo.

Two people smiling closely together, with the woman positioned slightly behind and above the man. Both have dark hair and are looking at the camera.

“My children were 5 and 8 yrs old when I was diagnosed with cancer. They asked me “Are you going to die now Mommy”?

“I read about the Wellness House in our local Hinsdale weekly newspaper.  I was hopeful my children and I could navigate this disease better there than by ourselves. My son was in kindergarten, and my daughter was in third grade.  It was a positive experience for us all.  My children met others whose parents had cancer, they didn’t feel so alone and confused, they drew pictures, played games, and felt they could express their feelings openly and without judgement. Wellness House made each holiday very special…the kids made their own pizzas, created Xmas ornaments, and made me Valentine cards.  The Wellness House helped the whole family and I am grateful it was in my own town and available to us.  They are now in their thirties …and we all made it through thanks in part to your love and support.”
