Frank Wills: A Practice of Healing

Among the many individuals whose dedication helped shape Wellness House is Frank Wills, a beloved volunteer whose impact continues to be felt long after his passing.

Frank arrived at Wellness House in 1992, just as our newly built home opened its doors. From the very beginning, he brought not only a unique skill set, but also a deep sense of ownership and belonging. Passionate about the healing power of Qi Gong, a meditative movement practice that blends breath, gentle motion, and mindfulness, Frank made a compelling case for bringing the practice to Wellness House. It soon became one of the earliest and most enduring wellness programs offered here.

For more than twenty years, Frank led weekly Qi Gong sessions—teaching, encouraging, and uplifting thousands of participants. His classes were known not only for their gentle rhythm and thoughtful guidance, but for the warmth, humor, and community he cultivated. Frank believed that healing began with presence, patience, and practice. Under his steady direction, many participants discovered tools for lifelong well-being and a renewed sense of peace amid their cancer journeys.

Frank’s care extended far beyond the classroom. He treated Wellness House as his own home—nurturing both the physical space and the people within it. In the early days, he even hung the etched glass panel above the front door that reads “Wellness House”—a lasting symbol of welcome that still greets every visitor today.

Frank’s legacy lives on in the thousands of lives he touched, in the peace he shared, and in the light that continues to shine through the work he helped build. His spirit of generosity, mindfulness, and care embodies the very heart of Wellness House—35 years strong and filled with gratitude for all who, like Frank, make this house a home.
