West suburban center offering free support to those fighting cancer expanding to 2 major hospitals

     A center that offers free support for those fighting cancer is expanding from the west suburbs to two major hospitals. The Wellness House is based in Hinsdale, but is launching partner locations at Rush University Medical Center and Loyola Medicine in Maywood.

      How has breast cancer treatment improved?
      Teamwork enhances breast cancer treatment work, according Cristina O’Donoghue, surgical oncologist with UChicago Medicine and Advent Health. She said close collaboration between a patient’s multidisciplinary team of experts has yielded significant gains in developing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

      Mind Body Fest offers ‘restorative experience’ in Hinsdale for those impacted by cancer

        Mind Body Fest, an event for families impacted by cancer, is a “relaxing and restorative experience,” according to organizers.

        The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 16 at Wellness House, 131 N. County Line Road, in Hinsdale.

        Deb Kwiatt, public relations and media manager for Wellness House said Mind Body Fest was “created especially for cancer survivors and caregivers.”

          Cancer patients often describe a lonely or isolated feeling, while navigating the devastating disease.

          A Hinsdale non-profit is trying to change that.

          Wellness house supports thousands of cancer patients each year, with counseling, classes and moral support.

          Families and caregivers can get help too.
