Volunteering at Wellness House is a family affair for the Thick household.
“I’m the fourth member of my family to be involved with Wellness House,” said Julie Thick, a board member for about two years and in her second year as co-chair for the upcoming Walk for Wellness House.
Husband Scott is a former board member, daughter Kaitlyn helped found the organization’s Junior Board and son Dylan is a Junior Board member.
“It’s always been a place that has been important to us as a family,” she said. “We live right up the street, so we pass the house every day.”
Thick, like so many, has a personal connection to cancer. Her nephew, who is now in his mid-30s, was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was 9.
