I look to catch our community supporting one another whether it is the huge effort to pass a referendum for our schools and children or the quieter, but no less committed, aid for a sick or grieving neighbor. We do not isolate, and we are especially happy to get out as spring starts.
For our families, all the Easter egg hunts and breakfasts with the Easter Bunny in both Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills are around the corner, and we walkers and runners will start the season with the annual Walk the Walk for Autism later in April.
Over the years of writing this column, I don’t think I’ve ever given the May Walk for Wellness House the attention it deserves, even though thousands of our neighbors participate in one form or another.
Wellness House caught me unawares one day in late, freezing February when I was walking past it on County Line Road. An acquaintance from Orland Park named Joe McCorry greeted me from his car.
