HINSDALE, Ill, April 25, 2016 – On Sunday, May 1, 2016 over 2,000 cancer survivors, families, friends, and volunteers will gather in support of people living with cancer at the annual Walk for Wellness House fundraiser. This family fun event will begin and end at Wellness House located at 131 N. County Line Rd. Hinsdale, IL 60521.
25 years ago, a group of people came together because they saw, first-hand, the impact of cancer on their family and friends. Out of concern and determination, Wellness House was born to lighten cancer’s burden through programs that support, inform and educate people affected by cancer. Since then, more than 32,000 people have been impacted by Wellness House.
“It is a wonderful resource for knowledge and support. Wellness House has a wealth of programs ranging from exercise, to support groups, to nutrition, to art and expressive groups, to stress reduction, and much more. It’s an oasis of loving kindness and understanding. The staff and volunteers are wonderful. It’s a safe haven and always feels like coming home, being among other cancer survivors. Oh, and it’s all free!” stated a recent Wellness House participant.
Individuals make an average of 25,000 visits to Wellness House each year. Wellness House only exists because of the generosity of individuals, organizations and the community who support its mission. This year’s goal is to raise $555,000 to benefit the programs offered at no charge year-long. McDonald’s is the presenting sponsor for this year’s event.
