GRACE is about a child’s intimate journey through cancer and recovery. It will be an inspirational event for the entire family.

Bring your entire family to join speaker/author Melinda Marchiano and her mother, Lee Marchiano, as they share experiences from their family’s journey after Melinda was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma at age 14. Melinda has documented her journey in the autobiographical book, Grace: A Child’s Intimate Journey Through Cancer and Recovery. Following the presentation, children/teens and parents/caregivers will have the opportunity to explore and reflect on their own experiences with pediatric cancer in separate breakout sessions led by the presenters. Melinda and Lee will be graciously providing copies of Grace for families to take home with them. Fun activities and lunch will also be provided.

A conversation of hope with Melinda and Lee Melinda and her mother Lee will share the joys and sorrows of their experience with pediatric cancer and a powerful message of encouragement for the entire family.
Panel of Families – Sharing the journey
Find connection and understanding through meaningful conversation and shared journeys. After the presentation, families in various stages of navigating a cancer journey will join together for an authentic conversation.
Connecting and Caring
Children/Teens will have the opportunity to play and meet each other while parents have a separate space to share their own thoughts and feelings. 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Activities and Resource Fair
Join us for an open ended time of meaningful exploration and fun for the family. Activities include: Superhero Station, Medical Play, Graffiti Wall, Family Bonding Activities, Cancer Support Organizations and more.
Wellness House is a non-profit cancer support organization based in Hinsdale, IL serving the Chicago area. We envision a community where all people affected by cancer thrive. Offered at no cost, and as a complement to medical treatment, our programs educate, support and empower participants so they will improve their physical and emotional well-being.
